Women of Worth 2008

A Gift From Them To Us...Thank You!

Women of Worth Retreat 2008
A group of ladies (seven of us) went to a retreat May16-18 and had a wonderful refreshing time. There was a perfect balance of laughing, crying, soul searching, and course corrections being made. Jesus is so wonderful and met our needs! The women from PNG were such an inspiration to each one of us and gave us an insight we are often blinded of in America. One of the questions to the PNG women was, "Would you like to stay in America?" The response hit home. She gently replied, "you people in America have everything, instruments, material blessing all around you. But, we have the Lord's Presence." Then she said, "God has me in PNG, and you in America for a reason and a purpose." May we keep focused on the Lord and live that purpose to the fullest. That is my prayer! Ladies, thanks for going with me to this year's retreat! May we bring even more ladies next year!

Foolish Dreams

Foolish Dreams
"Be content with such things as ye have." (Hebrews 13:5b)For twenty-five years I have looked forward to uninterrupted nights, a house that stays neat longer than five minutes after I clean it, and a noise level below one decibel. As much as I loved my four children and teaching them at home, these were the things I longed for while we homeschooled. Now, years later, the very things that were so important are mine in abundance. However, the empty nights seem uninteresting, the house has no reason to be clean, as it sits empty all day, and the quiet is agonizingly loud. My foolish dreams of yesterday have come true, and I chastise myself for trading productive moments with my family for grumbling and complaining.
God gives us so much to be thankful for each day, but we choose to look past the blessings. Focusing our thoughts on illusive mirages of happiness, we think we know what will satisfy us best. We disregard God's provision and constant care and trade His blessings for future "if only's." Patiently, He waits for us to discover two important facts: He has already given us everything we need, and He only can satisfy the longings of the soul.Do you ever long for the "good old days" before the demands of homeschooling? Dear one, please don't waste one more moment longing for "if only's." The homeschool blessings of today are far greater than any sacrifice you've laid at the Master's feet. "Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light." (Psalm 37:4-6a)Father,Please forgive my ungrateful heart and help me see afresh all the blessings You so faithfully provide each day. Cause my heart to rejoice instead of complain and to serve You by serving my family. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Good food and Christian fellowship!
